say my name!

I've never thought twice about taking Adam's name when we get married (56 days to go!) but I thought this article from RocknRollBride was quite interesting.

 Don't get me wrong I've always loved my surname & the 'Plumpy' nickname it got me, it always raises a smile when you meet someone for the first time & they don't forget you easily. I think the things that's made the change easier is that Adam's surname also starts with a 'P' so I'll still be known as KtP (my nick name since junior school) or just 'P' for short since uni. I've even started signing cards from the 2 of us as 'The P's' so I don't think that'll be dropped anytime soon! It's kinda nice, I get a new surname when I start my married life with Adam but still carry some of my old name with me. Win win! What do you think?

I haven't read the article yet but I doubt I'll take another man's name if I (ever) get married. It would depend on his family somewhat and if I would feel a part of it, but I wouldn't want to lose the association of my own roots, plus the usual feminist ownership arguments. I always want to be Sarah Ashton. Besides, It's a hell of a hassle changing documentation and websites lol! xx

After a few deep breaths I plucked up the courage to walk into the Jetlag bar in Fitzrovia & meet some fellow blogging lovelies. I'd first heard about Ldnlunch On Eloise's blog . I'd always wanted to go to a blogger meet so I put my name down straight away. I was a bit nervous when I realised there were about 40 other girls going who's blogs were mainly about fashion, whereas mine is just random ramblings from inside my brain box but decided I'd still go seeing as I had nothing to lose! I arrived expecting to be early but there were already lots of people sitting down for drinks & food so I grabbed a drink & perched on a pooffe. Londoners pt1

For Chrimbo Adam gave me a book called "Londoners. The days & nights of London now - as told by those who love it, hate it, live it, left it & long for it" by Craig Taylor. After reading the introduction & before reading any more I decided I'd think about what London & being a Londoner means to me. Even though I picked out bullet points I still got a bit carried away so I'll spread it over a few posts so here goes part 1, I'll start with the one thing that I think of straight away when someone says London to me: ~ the tube is a huge part of London life. It's about sitting on a train for an hour & not knowing what any one's face looks like only their shoes, panic attacks when the train gets stuck in a tunnel without explanation, keeping left, standing on the right spot on a platform so you'll be in front of the doors when they open & also so when you get off you'll be at the exit to the station - even if that exit says no ent

T-minus 6months / 184days!

Eeep! 6months today I'll be just about to walk down the aisle to see the man I'm going to marry! AAAAARRRRGGGHHH!I'm so ridiculously excited I'm not sure I can bottle it up! Valentines day marked 200 days till our wedding & mum made us a countdown using tape measures measuring 100cm each. The plan was to cut off a cm each day as the countdown but she'd included little charms all down them of bags, shoes, guitars, etc & we didn't want to ruin it so we're colouring it in with a Sharpie instead! Last night after work Adam & I met up at Waterloo to head home & it was all going as planned till we stopped at one station for about 20mins cos of a backlog due to a part suspension.
