notes of a sudoriferous geek.
well we arrived safely in Gujarat after deciding to fly rather than risking the train or bus from Mumbai. Eventhough in Ahmedabad weve seen only about 2 puddles the rest of Gujarat, in the south is still quite flooded. weve had a bit of rain, but not much, its really hot and muggy, thankfully where we are the moment is all airconditioned!
We are staying at the NID (National Institute of Design) in their guest house. its quite nice feeling like a student again! the campus is lovely and the scenery (mainly guys) is rather nice too!! ;-) we are here for about a week to study in detail the topics we want to do for our dissertations next year, bit geeky but really useful and interesting! Weve also met a really nice guy called Erol whos been helping us and showing us some of his textile techniques.
Gujarat is more of what id expect from india and i love it! we were driving down the main road in a rik last night, looked to where all the traffic was waiting at the traffic lights and amongst all the riks, cars and bikes was a camel!! made us all giggle anyway!
at the end of the week i'll be moving onto a small village that creates ikat waeving (my dissertation topic) and staying there for a bit then moving onto Rajasthan to see more of the real india! i feel like ive been in a little westernised bubble living in bangalore all year and its nice to get out of it for a while. it was weird leaving bommasandra on monday, knowing that i would probably never be going back there ever and if i did, definately not to live. i imagine bangalore was on flood alerts on sunday and monday seeing as i cried so much! it all started at leela, met all my cosmo mates and we had a really nice day and evening. they kept saying comments that made me well up, and me being a soppy cow just let the tears flow!!!! it was bad in the taxi with pushparag on monday too! im ok now, but really dreading when i leave bangalore for good!!! (think all my mates are too!) hehe.
anywas better get back to the library!

Ilook forward to the dissertation !!It would help your acedemic career somewhat if you could spell weaving correctly.
Glad to see that you are enjoying the break.

I am only wondering how many camels are you to ship back home, considering the passion you carry when shopping! :-D
