we built this city on rock and roll...well not anymore!

i was comp shopping around town yesterday and it struck me how sad parts of london are looking now. i know a lot of places like around tottenham court road are being redeveloped (i'll get back to that later!) but it just looks like the city is closing down. all the zavvi stores are standing empty, as are many woolies (tho there aren't any in central london) and a whole row of shops near piccadilly circus are all boarded up and others are filled with so many tacky souvenier shops. to any visitor it would really look like a city thats feeling a bit sorry for itself. :( come on london cheer up! i can't believe that whole area of oxford stree/tottenham court road has all gone, it's still weird to think they've closed down the astoria, mean fiddler/la2/whatever you want to call it(!) and metro club. they went a while ago but every time i walk past them it makes me sad to think there'll be no more ace gigs going on around there. the astoria was such an iconi

i'll keep this post short so as not to sound like a smug married but valentines day was brilliant! really lovely! i got up at 8:45am (on a saturday! not impressed!!) and trundled off to kingston to get food and presents. M&S were a godsend and I got the most amazing rack of lamb, mashed potatoes and veg along with creme brulee for pudding. yum! made me look like a masterchef too! :) i came back to my flat and tidied my room and got ready a little romantic picnic and it looked lovely! i lit lots of candles and it was nice to have just music on so we could chat and not watch tv too. MY PICNIC SETTING! THE MASTERCHEF MEAL. I EVEN MADE MY OWN GRAVY! ENJOYING OUR MIXED FRUIT CIDER anyways told you I'd keep it short! ttfn! xxx

A group of us went out for Emhen's birthday last night and we went for a meal at Zizi's on The Strand after a few drinks. When we got there I asked if there was anything they could do for Em's birthday but they said they'd just run out of candles. I asked if there was anything else they could do and they said that if I wanted I could go to Tescos at Trafalgar Square (this was 9pm on a Sunday bear in mind!) and get some candles from there. So off I went pretending I needed to call Adam outside and pegged it to the end of the road. It felt just like Challenge Annika tho I don't think my bum would have looked as good in the jumpsuit! :P Tescos had nothing so I tried 4 other shops. What did I come out with?! Proper household candles for powercuts! That was all anyone had so it would have to do. I went back to the restaurant, red faced and out of breath from running (again Annika never looked this knackered!), handed the candles to the waitress and barman and

is still having a party and yes everybody's swinging!

Well I have been a busy bee and it’s pretty much all been mucking fagic!!!! :D This is my 1st update and there'll be many more! :P Last Sunday was another Gaslight Anthem gig, this time at Shepherd’s Bush Empire. The venues are getting bigger for them but at least they’re still fairly small, don’t want them getting to the O2 or Wembly now (in a completely selfish way of course!)! I got there a bit early for meeting Adam so just happened to walk past the stage door and there was Brian (the lead singer) outside. I didn’t know what to do so ended up walking past him and going to the end of the street, standing there for a bit, pretending to phone someone and plucked up the courage to walk past him again an even speak to him! I asked for a photo and we had a little natter, as I was leaving he asked me my name and he said ‘nice to meet you I’m Brian!’ how sweet?! I joked that I knew who he was and I walked off on cloud 9! I love the way he’s still so humble and unassuming! :) BR

smiley happy people

another thing i've noticed about the snow is it makes londoners friendly! i walked to asda again just now and i got smiles and hellos (as well as the odd stray snowball) from people that normally just put their heads down and ignore you! maybe it should snow every once in a while here to remind people how to be polite?! can't believe it's still snowing! xxx

let it snow! let it snow! let it snow! :)

couldn't believe it when i opened my curtains this morning and i was greeted with this sight! london never gets snow like this! I can't get to work. The busses have all been cancelled and most of the underground and overland have been too! crazy! it's still snowing now and it's not just small flakes, they're pretty big! i decided to wade my way to asda to get some rations! :P and it was brill. just like being a little kid again! i took my camera with me and ended up walking into the cemetry to get some lovely shots, a bit morbid i know but then again i am a wannabe emo!! i still can't believe how deep it is. i went to walk out the front door and the snow was about 30cm deep against our door! the only rubbish thing is that i've not got anyone to enjoy the snow with. i'm stranded in south london and adam's in north london. boo! the victoria line is working so i could walk about 2hrs to vauxhall and get to him that way or if i wanted to
