Up and Down like a flipping yoyo

One minute I'm ok, all Positive Parker, being a lockdown lady of leisure... the next I'm in a muddle, feeling totally overwhelmed and being a total Negative Nelly. It's exhausting. I know I'm not the only one feeling like this on an emotional rollercoaster but wow! Friday was a particularly bad one, I got the news I knew would be coming but was clinging onto a tiny (unrealistic) slither of hope that it would be ok, my trip to Berlin with 2 of my Frank Turner Fangirls was cancelled, first the flights, then Frank announced the 4day festival Lost Evenings was cancelled, then I had to sort my hotel cancellation. All 3 of us knew it was coming but it was a sad day, at least we're planning for Lost Evenings 5 to be one hell of a celebration, even if it's in Australia (side note - please don't be in Oz, I can't afford it!!). On top of this my Lewis Capaldi gig in July was cancelled as well as the Kasabian gig in June. As a busy social butterfly I'm fin...

Let’s go Back To The Future with Secret Cinema

Image
Wow! That’s the best place to start I think! On August 9 th  Pete, Sarah, Adam & I were part of something special – Back To The Future Secret Cinema.   The excitement started to build well before the night with various mails including one that gave us our new I.D’s for the night: ~ I was Susy Thompson (Susy T) an Egg Grader at Twin Pines Ranch ~ Adam was Randall Duncan (Randy D) a student at Hill Valley High Other mails told us about pop up stores/diners & a postal/telephone exchange. I called up Randall on his 1955 phone number & left him a message inviting him to prom, he never replied but thankfully still turned up – men! After all the negative press due to the first week being cancelled I think some people were apprehensive but once I’d got on my new dress (thanks to Lady Vintage) I was up for a great night & a belter of a night it was too!   On the tube it was funny looking around as more & more people got on in 50s outfits – we...

Le Geek, C'est Chic!

Last Wednesday was #loadingsoho 's first event in London. They've got a bar in Falmouth (check out their website HERE ) & wanted to trial a night in London. Going by how packed the venue was it went down pretty well! SO watch this space for them hosting a regular night from April. The walls & windows were decorated by Cosmic (link HERE ) & they had themed drinks based on video games past & present. Ash had "Truth, Lie, Stout," Adam had "Sugar & Splice" & mine was "G&T Virus" complete with sloe gin syringes! We topped the night off with Super Mario Level One shooters too. All this on a school night! Rebels! Once we squeezed past everyone at the bar we were greeted with a mix of retro & modern consoles & board games. We managed to jump on the Super Nintendo for a bit of Micro Machines, Mario Kart & Street Fighter. I did my best button bashing & managed to beat Ash who was playing it properly! W...

A Right Royal Hen Party - just call me ma'am as in jam!

Image
Last weekend was AWESOME! FACT! I had an awesome time with awesome friends doing awesome things! Get the picture?! It was pretty darn swell! I met up with Anna & Lou on the Friday evening for a posh cocktail at the Skylon before grabbing a bite to eat at Strada on the Southbank & heading to our hotel for the weekend. I walked into the room I was sharing with Anna to be greeted with this! How brill?! She'd even super imposed my face onto the queen! Love it! By this point everything was still a surprise & I had no idea what was going on, on top of the postcards I'd had a while back (see post HERE ) I'd also had one recently that was just full of song lyrics. I've since had it pointed out to me that each line hinted at something we'd be doing, I've never been good at cryptic puzzles so this was lost on me totally! I've highlighted the lines throughout this post so you can see what a clever thing Anna is! The first two were " Just that swee...

Just a little Eggscited!

Seeing as it's not Easter what other reason would I have for a crummy egg joke?! That's right my Hen Party! Now in case you've been living under a rock for the last few months I know I got married at the start of September, but never one to follow the rules (surprising I know!), my Hen Party ain't until the end of October & I'm getting really excited! I've left it up to Anna & the other bridesmaids so it's all a big secret though I have been getting postcard hints via snail mail. I love getting post but this kind of post's even better! The last postcard I got was the most exciting of them all. Anna had made up a poem & are you sitting comfortably cos it goes summit like this: "Mirror mirror on the wall what should you wear to the best hen night of them all? -------------- Saturday is the day to dress girly & sweet, perhaps a little vintage from your head to your feet. And then what's next? Hmmm…let's see. Well please...

Cess & her hens

Image
Last weekend it was a fellow India Girlie's Hen Party. Step forward bride-to-be Cess. We all met at the Brunswick House Cafe  which was a fab venue right next to Vauxhall Station. It was the right level of quirky & full of random bits & bobs hanging from the ceiling. When we went to the table Cess' MOH had added to the decorations with tea lights & a pretty table cloth as well as our own place settings. Thankfully it wasn't obviously a Hen Party, though there were subtle hints like Cessie's straw on the table! :P The waiter was really lovely while he took these photos & was determined to get the best shot possible which was evident at the number of photos on my memory card! Once we'd sorted out the bill, overpaid by £67, got the money back & put it all into the drinks kitty we set off for Thamesis Dock  just down the road on Albert Embankment. It's a fab 1930s Dutch Barge that's been converted into a pub/club & the vie...

Lisa's Brighton Babes

Image
All Adam & I seem to be doing at the moment is going on stag/hen weekends, can't complain though it's great fun! This time it was Lisa's Hen Party in Brighton. Jenna, Jennifer & I hopped in Tina's well decorated car & we were off. Girls on tour! Well, till we got a bit further down the road & the wind blew the decorations so hard we had to stop & take them off so they didn't fly off & hit someone on the motorway! We arrived at the Andorra Hotel a few hours later & dragged our suitcases up the wonky steep stairs to a rabbit warren of rooms. I really liked it's little quirks & its uneven floors that made you feel drunker than you were & the gap between the door & the floor was hilarious! Even though we were only going for 3days my suitcase weighed a ton & was full of clothes I never wore, 5 pairs of shoes & bottles of ale! If only I'd swapped the ale for Lambrini, then it would have been a prope...
