So much for updating this blog more regularly! Yoink!  In a nutshell, life has changed again...  I was made redundant in August, I knew I wasn't happy in my job but it still hit me like a tonne of bricks. I'd been working in the fashion industry for 15years, now the rug had been taken out from under me it gave me the fresh start I obviously needed. I was left with no work or home ties to London and so decided to relocate to the Midlands. I started to apply for jobs and found one that seemed perfect, a studio assistant role on minimum wage, I went for the interview and found out the next day I hadn't got that job, but the boss had wanted to employ me as her PA / Project developer, it was a dream job come true! All that organisation with creative bits thrown in! Huzzah! I've been working there a month and a half and I'm loving it, the people are lovely, the job is great, and the embroidery product is beautiful. Now I'm in a job I love again Positive Parker has sta...

Up and Down like a flipping yoyo

One minute I'm ok, all Positive Parker, being a lockdown lady of leisure... the next I'm in a muddle, feeling totally overwhelmed and being a total Negative Nelly. It's exhausting. I know I'm not the only one feeling like this on an emotional rollercoaster but wow! Friday was a particularly bad one, I got the news I knew would be coming but was clinging onto a tiny (unrealistic) slither of hope that it would be ok, my trip to Berlin with 2 of my Frank Turner Fangirls was cancelled, first the flights, then Frank announced the 4day festival Lost Evenings was cancelled, then I had to sort my hotel cancellation. All 3 of us knew it was coming but it was a sad day, at least we're planning for Lost Evenings 5 to be one hell of a celebration, even if it's in Australia (side note - please don't be in Oz, I can't afford it!!). On top of this my Lewis Capaldi gig in July was cancelled as well as the Kasabian gig in June. As a busy social butterfly I'm fin...

Positive Songs For Negative People

Image
Best. Album. Name. Ever thanks to the awesome Frank Turner! I love it when a new album comes out that I've waited for ages for, it's making this looong Friday go a hell of a lot quicker & it's flying by while I sit here with a smile on my face!   We were lucky enough to see Mr Turner last night in Kingston for his album launch gig - didn't get home till 2am so the 6am alarm this morning wasn't exactly welcome but hey.....that's the price you pay for fun! A little bit for everyone

Image
Last week saw the end of my 5 gigs in 3 weeks...where did that go?! I thought it would make quite a fun contrast to put it all in one post so here goes.... sorry it's a long one guys! ------------------------------- 1. CHUCK RAGAN - Scala - 25-03-15 A great way to ease into my gig marathon! We arrived at the Scala & even though we were right at the back I had a clear view of Joe Ginsberg whoop! Chuck & the Camaraderie sounded as wonderful as always & I enjoyed a good singalong & foot stomp! I'd never been to the Scala before (I only knew it as a club you could get shot at years ago!!) but it's a great space for live gigs. Yay for Chuck & new venues! Roll on the next one - maybe even a Revival Tour. Also yay for being at Kings Cross late at night when there are no tourists at Platform 9 3/4. ------------------------------- 2. FRANK TURNER - Cecil Sharp House - 26-03-15 Not a gig strictly speaking but a celebration of Frank's book launch. Cecil Sharp H...

Pop Princess or Rock Chic...who'll win?!

Image
Tonight marks the first gig of 5 in 3weeks...to say I'm excited is a bit of an understatement!  As many of you know I have a rather eclectic taste in music & these are the gigs lined up.... Chuch Ragan Frank Turner Blue McBusted System of a Down. It's gonna be an awesome few weeks! Let's see which side wins....cheesy pop, rock or bang in the middle?! Bring it on! Ttfn x

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Image
not only is it almost Christmas.....but I managed to get 4 tickets for System Of A Down this morning! After failed attempts at various pre-sales on Wednesday & Thursday I logged on today for my last chance & by 10:02 am when they'd all gone my face looked pretty much like this.....   Rarr! I also was lucky enough to be picked for the Christmas/New Year recording of Top Of The Pops a week on Monday! No one can say my music tastes ain't varied that for sure! Let's just hope I don't get my glittery hair spray & rock outfit muddled up or there's going to be a person all in black at the TOTP recording & a pink & glittery weirdo at SOAD at Wembley! Ttfn x

If you never let me go, I will never let you down

Image
So we went to see The Gaslight Anthem last night at Ally Pally, it's been way too long since our last Gaslight gig & was just what we needed to let our hair down....we sang, we held hands, we hugged & Adam even got the set list. Oush. Ttfn x

KooKooKangaRoo!

Image
Pirates, Ninjas, Unicorns & PB&J sarnies were just part of what was on offer last night at The Monarch Camden. Thanks to Frank Turner introducing this crazy pair on his UK tour we couldn't possibly miss their first headline show in the UK which was also free! It was as wacky & fun as I hoped & to top it off I met/spoke to Frank as well who was in the crowd dancing along with the rest of us. Rarr! Awesome night! Before the show while at the merch stand getting a bargain £5 t-shirt (guess they didn't want to fork out the excess baggage on the way back to the US!) I introduced Brian & Neil to the midlands phrase "Eh Up Me Duck" & each time I saw Brian after that he repeated it in his Dick Van Dyke British accent! Here's a little video from the show....I didn't film much I was too busy jumping / shouting / dancing & getting up on stage with everyone - I can now officially say I've shared a stage with Mr Frank Turner! Before y...

Pick up your foot & stomp it stomp it

Ladies & Gents I introduce to you KooKooKangaRoo! They're currently supporting Frank Turner on his tour & were awesome! I'd seen Frank mention them before & so I made sure we were there on the 2nd row ready for their warm up (literally) act. It was so much fun to watch the crowd warm to them after the initial "what on earth is happening?!" During the set they came into the crowd, got us all to make a circle & danced in the middle with us! My highlight was Cat Party & I sang my socks off. I couldn't believe when the set came to an end & although they didn't sing "No Crusts" it was just as awesome as I'd hoped! We stayed on the second row for Frank - it's a long time since I've been that hot & sweaty at a gig but as always it was brilliant....Adam & I kept grinning at each other & shouting along. I loved the bit when half the mosh pit sat down & all jumped up again to carry on singing/jumping! W...

Let’s go Back To The Future with Secret Cinema

Image
Wow! That’s the best place to start I think! On August 9 th  Pete, Sarah, Adam & I were part of something special – Back To The Future Secret Cinema.   The excitement started to build well before the night with various mails including one that gave us our new I.D’s for the night: ~ I was Susy Thompson (Susy T) an Egg Grader at Twin Pines Ranch ~ Adam was Randall Duncan (Randy D) a student at Hill Valley High Other mails told us about pop up stores/diners & a postal/telephone exchange. I called up Randall on his 1955 phone number & left him a message inviting him to prom, he never replied but thankfully still turned up – men! After all the negative press due to the first week being cancelled I think some people were apprehensive but once I’d got on my new dress (thanks to Lady Vintage) I was up for a great night & a belter of a night it was too!   On the tube it was funny looking around as more & more people got on in 50s outfits – we...

Jake & Johnny - a perfect match

Image
Johnny Cupcakes did it again - an ace acoustic show, this time with Less Than Jake. Thankfully there wasn't a balcony for any idiots to jump off like the night before so the show ran smoothly!  There were only 50 spaces up for grabs through a competition on Instagram...Mr P & I were jammy enough to be part of the lucky bunch...yay!  It was brill to hear acoustic versions of the songs I'm used to hearing as loud punky ska & looking at everyone else's faces they were just as chuffed! After the show the whole band turned up for a meet&greet so we got a few bits signed & a photo before heading back to our lovely new home for a bit more unpacking!  Phew! What a whirlwind week! Ttfn x

We are the Dateless Losers

Image
Well we spent our 2nd Valentines Day as a married couple in a mosh pit jumping & singing along to how love sucks! As you do... (Thanks to RBF twitter for the shot above!) I'd been waiting for this gig for ages & even though it's not Adam's favourite music, he did his husband duties & came along :) I love Reel Big Fish...ever since being taken to my first rock gig at Rock City in Notts in first year...once I realised I wasn't going to die & they played Take On Me I was hooked! Ha! I've never seen Less Than Jake though & I'd always said if they ever toured with RBF I'd be there...& there I was! After jumping around & getting covered in beer, sweat & goodness knows what else during RBF we moved to the back for LTJ. They came on stage...managed to get through a few brill songs then an idiot decided to jump from the 1st balcony into the mosh pit....the gig stopped...the band went off & we had to wait ...
