time flies.....

i can't believe in a couple of days it will be 2009 and this blog will be 4 years old! crazy eh?! i wonder if anyone except my parents still read this?! well i'm back in london now. can't believe chrimbo is all over for another year and i won't be seeing m&d till April now unless they come to London beforehand. it all went too quick. was a bit sad to say bye to them on sunday but at least i've got adam with me here in london and i can't have the best of both worlds! greedy guts! before coming back to london mum and i decided to hit the sales which we dont normally do. we left the house at 9am to be in leics ready for when the shops opened but didn't really need to worry about it cos it wasn't really as busy as we were expecting. as we left about 1:30 it was getting busier so i think we went at the same time. it was worth the early start!! i ended up getting 2 pairs of jeans and 2 tops which was cool. i would have had more pairs of jean

well i don't feel like dancin'.........

Image
....especially when cleaning my teeth!! one of my presents from santa this year was a musical toothbrush! it playes scissor sisters 'i don't feel like dancin'' through your jaw as you brush your teeth! it plays for 2min then stops so you can time cleaning your teeth too if you really want to! hehe. another place noone really felt like dancing was hinckley. met up with michelle, mel & keira on christmas eve eve for our traditional drinks and it was as if it was a normal night out. noone else around was in a very festive spirit, none of the pubs were decorated with christmas decorations or played any christmas music. we were gutted! it was still lovely catching up with the girlies though and we made the most of being together. eventhough i was 'des' for the night (designated driver) i still ended up walking around in someone elses shoes!! i always manage to go out in comfier shoes and then feel sorry for whoever has the crippling shoes on. i wore

Christmas is coming! (in case you hadn't realised!!)

I’ve just got 3 days left of work and London then it’s lots of R&R until Jan! :D I really can’t wait for Chrimbo this year it’s going to be ace cos I’m not working at all and I’ve got time off! Adam and I are driving home on Friday for lots of part-ay’s and scrummy food then he’ll drive back on Christmas Day to see his family. Can’t wait to see mum & dad properly, not seen them for a decent amount of time since my birthday. :( Got to make sure I relax well tho cos in Jan I’m off to India in the 1st week then Florence the week after. All systems go again! Adam and I went to a college to do a talk all about the design industry on Monday which went really well and I got a free table loom out of it! I was dead chuffed! Don’t think mum and dad are though at the thought of having to store it "‘till I get space in London for it" hmm how about never?! :P Will be good fun to get weaving again that’s for sure. I’ve really missed it. Oh and the exhibitionist strikes again! A

we're having a party, everybody's swinging......

I've never been so squashed, bumped, pushed and had so much beer in my hair but still so damn happy as I was last night!! yup you guessed it it was The Gaslight Anthem gig at the Mean Fiddler! :D Adam and I made our way to the front and got there eventually after having a bit of a run in with a guy on the front row who'd obviously never been at the front of a gig before cos he shouted at me to stop pushing and I pointed out to him that maybe he wanted to tell the hundreds of other people pushing me as well?! That did stop him complaining everytime I was squashed into him so I made sure I pushed him a bit harder than I needed to! :P I managed to get on the front about half way through tho so that was cool! It was such a great gig again, tho didn't feel as intimate as when we saw them at the ULU where we were right on the front of the stage with no security barrier! The group still looked as if they were having such a great laugh all the way through and it was brill being a

Hobnobbing with the stars

Yup that’s me alright! Had a lovely couple of days off with Adam at the start of this week for his birthday. It started off with us going for a tour round the Emirates Stadium (Arsenal’s home ground) and being taken round by one of the ‘legends.’ The guy who took us round was John Radford and he used to play for Arsenal in the 60s. It was really great getting taken round the dressing rooms, directors suite, pitch side and the press room while hearing all about his old stories from when he used to play. We also got a signed photo of him at the end which was quite cool as well as a little goodie bag. As if this wasn’t enough our next stop was Carnaby Street to the Vans shop to wait for one of our favourite bands, The Gaslight Anthem, to do a signing in there. And wait was what we definitely did!! We got there a little early to say the least (:P) and seeing how cold it is at the moment the staff took pity on us and let us sit on the sofa in store to keep warm! Other fans finally started

Holidays are coming, holidays are coming.......

Well it's officially Christmas! :D The Coca Cola advert came on today with the trucks driving along. I was so gutted last year when they only had the trucks in the background and now they're back! yay! it's so flipping freezing at the moment too it's definately reminding me its winter. I love it. Tho I wasn't so happy when I got up this morning with no heating and couldn't work out how to work the stupid boiler! but I turned lots of knobs and flicked switches and it's now working tho goodness knows how to turn it off! :S I went Christmas shopping with Adam yesterday on Oxford Street and Covent Garden which was fun, busy but fun! The lights were brilliant, Carnaby Street had huge inflatable snowmen, Regent Street had blankets of little tiny lights creating a canopy and Covent Garden had tubes of lights hanging from the covered market and the lights ran down the tubes making it look like snow. So that all helped me to feel Christmassy as well. I&

in out, in out, shake it all about!

i'd forgotten about how fluid places can be with people coming and going in and out of your life. when i came back from b'lore i'd started to understand that people come and go to different cities and countries but once i was back in lufbra i went back to my same old ways and thought people would always be around. once i graduated i realised things would change a little and i wouldn't still be seeing the same flatmates and coursemates all the time but they'd still be in the same country and only a few hours away by train. this week things changed again and 2 of my mates in london, one ex-flatmate one current flatmate both are returning to Australia :( it's a weird feeling wondering when/if i'll ever see them again and i don't like it! i had these same feelings when i left india in 2005 and thankfully i was back just over a year later and saw everyone again but with aus i'm really not sure when i'll get out there. in 100,000 airmiles time

sleigh bells ring.....

well the excitement has begun! :) christmas is less than a month away! woop woop! seeing as i stupidly left my tree at mum and dads this year in the loft i have no tree for my flat in london :( so to make up for the lack of christmas-ness i've already written about 80% of my christmas cards! :D there's nothing i love more than getting the box of cards down that i bought in the january sales last year and sorting out who gets what. i always get them from paperchase cheap then when i send them the following year i look like i'm sending expensive cards!! i'm such a student still! i've also bought and wrapped most of my presents too so that's cool! thank goodness for birthday gift vouchers from august that i've not spent yet! :P my christmas is going to be so lovely this year cos i'm not working at all seeing as i did last year. i'm going home to ma and pa's on 19th dec with adam and not returning to london till 28th :) new year will b

I know theres a lot of ipod thefts now a days but do i seriously think someone will nick it & i don't notice.......when im listening to it?! I've got in the habit now of checking my ipod's still there in my pocket as i walk along or sit on a bus or train. I know it's a good thing cos i shouldn't loose it, but when Ive got my headphones in do i really need to check its physically there when i can hear it?! I know thieves are getting sneakier but i very much doubt they'd work it so they could swap my ipod for another more rubbish mp3 player! Tho if they needed to match up the song so i wouldn't notice the swap, they wouldn't have many to pick from I've only been listening to gaslight anthem! Woot Woot! Xxx

Mirror mirror on the wall.......

Went to a very emo gig at Lufbra students union last night & felt scarily old. Im only 24! I think it must have been an over 16s gig cos there were quite a few parents lined up on the sofas waiting for their little darlings to finish moshing & be tucked up in bed before midnight! One of the main qualities of an emo that sets them apart from any other person is the hair & how much it means to them. This was made most obvious by one teenager who would be on the dancefloor one minute then running up to one of the decorative mirrors on the walls & checking his hair constantly! This was infront of everyone! Thing is he was messing up the back but just looking at the front & he had one of the shortest & unstylable haircuts he could have! I felt possitively manly next to him seeing as i hadnt checked my hair since id left the house half an hour before! :-S think i better get practising checking myself out in anything that can be classed as a mirror, either that or em

popping out for a poppy

Image
Well its that time of year again when i report back & say how many poppies Ive had to buy & replace. Well amazingly enough the answer is none! Wonders will never cease! The same cant be said for the rest of london tho......i decided to do my bit this year & went to collect money for the poppy people at heathrow airport last saturday & the most common thing that was said to me.....'this is my 2nd, 3rd, 4th poppy this year i just keep losing them!' ha so im not alone! I did quite well though & managed to sell all but 10 of my poppies in the box & ill find out how much i raised later on. I was on my own for most of the time until a man dressed in his raf jacket & was about 70 showed up with his poppies & wife in tow. He saw me & said 'ah a volunteer thats what i like to see' so i thought id finally have a nice friendly man to chat to until, plonk, hed set up his little table right infront of me so i was completely blocked & couldnt

Personal space is exactly that...personal!

Image
Im sitting on the central line facing one of life's awkward situations. I have a complete stranger sitting next to me with her, yes her, arm round the back of my seat. What do i do?! This is the second time in a week its happened to me. Now, the undergrounds a cramped place & to have what little personal space you have invaded by an arm is disconcerting & quite annoying! Thankfully im getting off in a stop or 2, just remember this....i might look friendly but please dont put your arm around me. Im not that nice! Xxx

...i will survive, as long as i've had weetabix i know i'll stay alive...

Weetabix – it might set you up for the day ahead and make you big and strong but it’s a fine art to get the right amount of milk on it. it either goes too soggy or is too dry. One more drop than you need, and that’s all you need, a drop, and the bricks turn into a soggy mush that is just like runny slop, one drop too few and you teeth end up welded together and your mouth becomes as dry as sawdust. My tried and tested method is to put a small amount in the bowl. Watch the 2 blocks of weetabix suck up the milk greedily and then just add a little bit more so the middle is a bit mushy but the outside edges are still crispy enough to hold it all together and this works perfect! Then again if you like to drink your cereal instead of actually eating it then ignore this useful food preparation tip and drown them in the milk. Hot or cold the choice is yours!!! Next week, raw shreddies!! xxx

Well I'm another year older, but not necessarily wiser...

After getting stupidly excited over my birthday this year (I swear I get mentally younger each year!) it came and it went and was well worth getting excited about as well as the days that followed! On the actual day I was with Adam in London. I'd decided I'd love to go to London Zoo so that's where we ended up. This was after my 1st surprise of the day - Adam had found out we could get a canal boat from Camden to the zoo so that was a lovely treat in the morning and we enjoyed watching the world go slowly by. The zoo was great fun and we saw lots of animals and thankfully not too many kids! There was one enclosure where they had set up an area as a Rainforest but the animals weren't behind bars or glass they could wander in and out of the balcony you walked around on if they wanted too. :) that was really cool and I got to see a Sloth which was ace! Adam didn't knwo what one was until I explained what they did and how lazy they are and now we've deicde

dictionary definition of the word 'fast' anyone?!

Rant time again – this time self-serve check outs, or fast lanes as supermarkets like to call them. Hmm that’s debatable for sure. You end up waiting for one to be free longer than if you had queued in the longest queue in the world behind trollies and everything at the other end of the checkout row. They drive me mad but still I wait there and use them. I really don’t know why! I always think, ‘ooh hang on it might be a bit quicker this time’ but no, you always have to ‘wait for assistance’ cos either the item doesn’t weigh as much as the machine was expecting, or your card chip and pin won’t work, or you’ve skipped bagging to be environmentally friendly by bringing your own bags but it ends up causing more problems than if you didn’t , or something wont scan cos its too creased, wet, dry, faded, you name it the scanner has a problem with it! I truly believe that when you join the queue the shop assistants should hand out leaflet explaning why this line may be bad for your health, yo

incase you don't remember me...i'm ktp...nice to meet you!

i know, i know, i know, i'm officially rubbish! i keep meaning to write on here but whatever i do never feels interesting enough to bother you lot with! so, my last post was......may 28th! oops! i'm flicking through my diary to see what i've been up to since then. is it really that long?! i cant believe it! 1. the main thing i've been doing regularly is meeting up with anna, becca and cess once a month in london seeing as we're all living here now, be it spread out, but in the city all the same! it's great seeing the 3 of them regularly cos there was a bit of a lul after everyone graduated and settled down in various places but now we have a good old girly gossip at least once a month! much needed! 2. i've been on a few trips with work: - florence for pitti, and mum and dad come out for a long weekend to see me too. it was great having sometime away with them in the sunshine and showing them around florence and all our regular haunts! thou

Stop the pigeon....

Image
Im standing in the rain at trafalgar square watching the world go by as a kid pelts past me chasing a pigeon. I know this isnt an unusual occurance where pigeons & children are in the same place but, i dont know if this kid was super quick or the pigeons had just eaten too much but he was almost catching the rats with wings! You could tell he wasnt expecting to be able to do this cos as he got closer & closer he slowed down to give the pigeon a chance to get away! Wimp! Kids now-a-days eh?! In the olden days theyd have caught that bird & had it for dinner! Mmm! Tastes like chicken! ;) Xxx

why oh why....

....do they make Chinese restaurants so quiet and prawn crackers so loud?! i always feel self concious when eating prawn crackers anyway cos you can't really eat them very politely cos they just crumble everywhere and you're left with bits sticking out your mouth, down your clothes, on the table (or is this just me?!) and as if to make them even worse they're so blimmin' noisey. you always walk into a chinese restaurant and it's all peaceful and relaxing and then you get a group of people sounding like they don't know how to eat as they crunch and crisp their way through a basket of the noisiest (but yummiest) snacks ever. answers on a postcard! xxx

D-day (dress day)

Image
Well it came and it went and I actually enjoyed it – wearing a dress that is, and the wedding was fun too! :P A RARE SIGHT - KTP IN A DRESS! Adam’s mate from uni, Phil, was getting married on Saturday so the dress got it’s first official outing. After getting used to the fact that I felt like I wasn’t wearing anything cos I’m used to jeans and t-shirts I went out and strutted my stuff. I still had to look down every so often to make sure! The service was lovely, so was the reception and I wish the happy couple all the best. Sad to say I didn’t catch the boquet but the token gay guy did which was ace and I think he appreciated it much more than any of the girls would have done anyway! ANOTHER HAPPY COUPLE! Well not a lot to post about this really but the fact was I went out in a dress, in public, and didn’t make a spectacle of myself! Woot woot! There’s hope for me yet! :P xxx

muffins on the move

why don't they invent an easy way to eat muffins on the go?! i was at the train station yeterday morning and i saw a muffin just calling out to me and i thought yeah why not? so i paid a stupid price for it and was about to eat it and the train came. so i got on a busy commuter train still clutching my pricey muffin. instead of being patient and waiting till i got off the train to eat it i decided to start tucking in. what i hadn't thought about was HOW i was going to eat it. i started to take the top off first which was fine cos it wasn't too crumbly, then i got the middle bit that was just crumbs and i started to struggle. i had my arms pinned to my sides and tried not to drop muffin crumbs over everyone suits. most people would have just given up but it was open and i couldnt wrap it up again and the only other choice was the throw it away. now im on a budget this month so i'm not going to waste half a crumbly muffin cos i cant manage with it so i struggled

easter miracles really do happen

i got a dress! i know i couldn't believe it either!! i suddenly found out i might have a few weddings to go to soon so needed a back up dress ready. poor adam didnt really know what to do at the prospect of a dress hunt again but it wasn't too bad really. i saw one i liked in the 1st shop but it wasn't very weddingy so carried on looking and found one in topshop later on (i know everyone will have it but i'll look the best! :P of course!) so i'm happy and i own a dress! wow! i went home for easter for 4 full days of mum and dad and it was nice for adam and i to get away from london for a bit eventhough it was snowing and cold. had a really nice one with them and it's a shame it's back to the grind stone now! boo! ah well 4day week! :) xxx

ok who replaced my pill with prozac?!

i don't know what's wrong with me at the moment, well i say wrong as if it's a bad thing....... i'm happy ALL the time! now i know people who know me will say that i'm not exactly the glumest of people but this is different. i have a spring in my step. i wake up happy, i go to bed happy, i smile to myself on the bus and tube. i'm sure people think i'm mad when i'm out and about! i've just got a bubbly, happy feeling inside. yay. there are quite a few factors for this but i won't go into them cos i'll end up sounding smug!! just thought i'd let you know all's well with me and my little world! :) xxx

i may be turning into one of those smug marrieds! eeep!

Well Valentines day came and went and yes I was one half of those sickly sweet couples who make the most of it! Adam took me away to Paris for 3 days which was very sweet! J I was surprised at how quiet it was and all the couples you saw were mainly English, the majority of the visitors were school kids which made it slightly annoying but hey! We spent the 1st night sitting at the Sacre Coeur looking out at Paris while a random drunk guy played the guitar and sang. It was slightly more romantic than it sounds! :P we also did all the typical touristy stuff and made the most of being away for a few days from work! My last surprise was on the way back we travelled 1st class on the eurostar! That was ace! We had a 3 course meal and of course the compulsory champagne! :D woot woot hehe. I’m now sitting at my desk wishing I was still in Paris, hoping that payday will miraculously be changed to the 27th Feb, nibbling on French toast with champagne marmite (valentine’s day limi

cinders did go to the ball (well cocktail party)

well the hunt for a dress was in vain, i found nothing and i may have even lost a shopping partner in the process! i was in one of those moods that meant that nothing looked right - it had too many frills, not enough frills, was too baggy, was not baggy enough.....i think you get the message! i'm not usually THAT bad at shopping but when i'm in the wrong mood and it's for something i don't really want to buy then god help anyone who comes shopping with me. adam's never experienced that before and probably never will now as he's vowed never to go shopping with me especially for a dress again! yoink! when i realised i wasn't going to find a dress i decided to go for the 'narnia' approach instead and hope that when i opened my wardrobe i'd find something amazing at the back of it that i didn't realise i had! it kind of worked cos i looked in and delved to the lefthand side where i hang all my skirts and managed to find one that hadn't

panic before i even get to the disco!

there's nothing like the panic you get when you try on something that you know isn't going to fit in a changing room and then get it stuck....... i'm sure most of you know what i'm talking about, it's the last one, and is a size too small but you think 'oh it might fit, i'll give it a go' it also doesn't help when you ask the assistant if they have anything bigger and they say no but it's big for its size! sorry?! then it wouldn't be labelled a medium it would be a large wouldn't it?! but gullible as i am i was like 'oh ok cool i'll try it.' those fatal words! i went into the changing rooms and they were so small i could hardly fit in with myself, my bag and the garments i wanted to try on. So i got said large that was disguising itself as a medium and put it over my head. i struggled a bit and at this point most people would think 'nah, it's ok it's not going to fit.....' oh no, not me, i think that if
