So much for updating this blog more regularly! Yoink!  In a nutshell, life has changed again...  I was made redundant in August, I knew I wasn't happy in my job but it still hit me like a tonne of bricks. I'd been working in the fashion industry for 15years, now the rug had been taken out from under me it gave me the fresh start I obviously needed. I was left with no work or home ties to London and so decided to relocate to the Midlands. I started to apply for jobs and found one that seemed perfect, a studio assistant role on minimum wage, I went for the interview and found out the next day I hadn't got that job, but the boss had wanted to employ me as her PA / Project developer, it was a dream job come true! All that organisation with creative bits thrown in! Huzzah! I've been working there a month and a half and I'm loving it, the people are lovely, the job is great, and the embroidery product is beautiful. Now I'm in a job I love again Positive Parker has sta...

Up and Down like a flipping yoyo

One minute I'm ok, all Positive Parker, being a lockdown lady of leisure... the next I'm in a muddle, feeling totally overwhelmed and being a total Negative Nelly. It's exhausting. I know I'm not the only one feeling like this on an emotional rollercoaster but wow! Friday was a particularly bad one, I got the news I knew would be coming but was clinging onto a tiny (unrealistic) slither of hope that it would be ok, my trip to Berlin with 2 of my Frank Turner Fangirls was cancelled, first the flights, then Frank announced the 4day festival Lost Evenings was cancelled, then I had to sort my hotel cancellation. All 3 of us knew it was coming but it was a sad day, at least we're planning for Lost Evenings 5 to be one hell of a celebration, even if it's in Australia (side note - please don't be in Oz, I can't afford it!!). On top of this my Lewis Capaldi gig in July was cancelled as well as the Kasabian gig in June. As a busy social butterfly I'm fin...

One does Chelsea Flower Show

Image
I've always wanted to visit Chelsea Flower show & this year I got the chance to tag along with mum, and my aunt & uncle. It was so nice to have a day off work, to chill out with mum, have a proper girly day and all with awesome weather to top it off! What better way to share it than... yup you guessed it... One Second A Day! Here's my little video to make you feel like you were there! Enjoy! Wasn't overly keen with the "Best in Show" garden but some of the other smaller ones were lovely, especially the 5 BBC Radio 2 sense gardens. Some of the flower arrangement tents were a bit too stuffy for me but I loved wandering around the huge marquee and seeing all the different flowers and plants there to buy, I could have bought so many Cacti! I even wandered on the Easigrass stand to check out the fake grass... watch this space, hopefully we'll have a lovely (fake) green lawn to enjoy sometime soon(ish)! We managed to enjoy one glass of overly-priced Pimm...

On my way to who knows where

Image
Who knew I'd actually miss commuting?! I'm currently sat on the tube on my way for dinner...yes ok it's empty so not exactly experiencing the full "joy" of commuting....my music's on...I've got my book & it's oddly relaxing! Maybe I should just jump on the tube once in a while & go from one end to the other for some "me" time?! Bliss! Ttfnx

I won't send roses....

Image
though I will take you to a beautiful flower market & let you have the pick of the bunch.  Adam got me up bright and early (never knew 7am existed on a Sunday) & took me to Columbia Road Flower Market. It was lovely having a potter around & as well as flowers we ended up leaving with a new 'P' light. Yay for London days out! Ttfn x

#TowerPoppies roll of honour

Image
Following on from yesterday's post (see HERE ) I headed back to the Tower of London on Remembrance Sunday to hear the Roll of Honor.   I knew it would be popular so I got there over an hour before it was due to start & I managed to bag myself the perfect spot opposite the mound. Each night at sunset a Roll of Honor of was read out followed by the Last Post. Click HERE for a link to the video from the night I was there. Ttfn x

#TowerPoppies

Image
Last September I was lucky enough to get the chance to take part in the "Blood Swept Lands & Seas of Red" at the Tower of London.... Those of you who are regular readers will know I love helping out the Royal British Legion & this was a chance to be part of something awesome! "Blood Swept Lands & Seas of Red" was to mark the centenary of the outbreak of WW1, in total there were 888,246 ceramic poppies (1 to represent every British / Colonial serviceman killed) & the last one was planted on Remembrance Day. If you want to find out more & see a video about the poppies being made click HERE . Early one Saturday morning I set off to the Tower of London & joined another 120 people for a 3hour shift. The aim was to plant 5000 poppies to keep on track for the 11th November but someone ended up opening an extra palette & we planted 6000 instead! Our team was lead by a Beefeater's daughter who actually lived in the Tower - such an in...

High Tea for Two.

Image
Last weekend we celebrated our Wedding Anniversary at the Sanctum Soho Hotel (see link HERE & menu HERE ). The reason we chose this place was the fact they did a "Gents Afternoon Tea" for the blokes & a "High Tea For High Heels" for the ladies. Normally I like to think myself more laddy than lady but it was ture - I preferred the look of the girly one, mainly because there was a scone with jam & cream on mine & not on Adams! It also meant we could chop & change the savoury dishes to give me all the fishy thing (including an amazing Bloody Mary Oyster) while Adam had the meaty bits. The only thing that was a bit of a disappointment was tea & coffee wasn't unlimited so we ended up paying just under £4 each for a second tea & coffee. Hmm. After the food we were given a glass of champers (for me) & a tankard of Gentleman Jack & a cigar (for Adam). While we enjoyed the drinks at the hotel we took the cigar home & tr...

Let’s go Back To The Future with Secret Cinema

Image
Wow! That’s the best place to start I think! On August 9 th  Pete, Sarah, Adam & I were part of something special – Back To The Future Secret Cinema.   The excitement started to build well before the night with various mails including one that gave us our new I.D’s for the night: ~ I was Susy Thompson (Susy T) an Egg Grader at Twin Pines Ranch ~ Adam was Randall Duncan (Randy D) a student at Hill Valley High Other mails told us about pop up stores/diners & a postal/telephone exchange. I called up Randall on his 1955 phone number & left him a message inviting him to prom, he never replied but thankfully still turned up – men! After all the negative press due to the first week being cancelled I think some people were apprehensive but once I’d got on my new dress (thanks to Lady Vintage) I was up for a great night & a belter of a night it was too!   On the tube it was funny looking around as more & more people got on in 50s outfits – we...

Let the clicking commence!

Image
Yesterday Lou & I had a photo date & these little friends came along too.. . . We met at Kings Cross & after a yummy breakfast at Karpo we walked along Regents Canal past Camden to Little Venice. It was a great route & was so fun to catch up (after waaaay too long!) while clicking away.  Seeing as most of my photos were done using film I haven't got many to share apart from these snaps from my phone & Instax camera. We were lucky to stumble come across a "Before I Die" wall, of course we had to join in & my contribution was.... "Before I die I want to have an army of pugs!" What else?! Find out more about it  HERE There's a fault on the film in my Instax at the moment so my camera seems to self-censor my photos to make them look better....charming! Can't wait to get my film back & share my pics with y'all! Ttfnx

Roll up roll up the best kind of party's in town

Image
No it's not an SClub party...it's a Pug Party! I wish every Sunday could be like last Sunday...we spent it at a pug party at Pick Me Up  Festival at Somerset House. The Pug Queen herself.... Gemma Correll was there teaching everyone how to draw pugs & not just any pugs...pug balloons! Sadly Mr Norman Pickles (the muse for most of Gemma's work) wasn't there but various pug photos were projected onto the walls for inspiration/distraction! Afterwards we had great fun wandering down the South Bank, pugs in tow....sadly the tube got too exciting for one of Adam's pugs & he popped on the way home *sigh* Our little pugs are now by the tv & I swear when we go out to work they carry on having their own little pug party while they wait for us to come home.
