Park in Progress

Image
A few weeks ago ma&pa came to visit & we went to visit what was the Olympic Park. For the next month or so you can book tickets for the 'Park in Progress Tour' (click HERE ) to see what's what, if you get the chance you should try to go. We were all expecting a bit more of a tour of the actual park but in reality all we did was don hi-vis jackets (except for me cos the velcro was catching on my jacket - fashion before safety d'harling! :P), jump on a bus round the corner & go up the Orbit! It wasn't as bad as it sounds though cos we hadn't been able to go up the Orbit during the Games last year so it was great to have an aerial view of the stadium & the rest of the London. Mum & I thought it all looked a bit sad though without the magic & excitement the Olympics had brought with it. Once it's finished though it's going to be a lovely place to walk around & I can't wait to go for a swim in the public pool!...

Super, Smashing, Great Saturday pt2

Since starting this post I've actually been to the Olympics again (lucky I know!) but I'll carry on with my story from last Saturday (which I started HERE ) for now. After a fun morning of exploring the park it was suddenly our turn to go into the Olympic Athletic Stadium on the biggest Saturday of the event! We were quite eager (surprise surprise!) & so as soon as the gates were opened we went in to explore (read get a cuppa & cake!) before taking our seats. We were in block 156 & cos there weren't many people around we were able to have a quick sneak on the first level & this was our first view of the Athletics track in real life. Wow! You couldn't wipe the grin from mum's face she was over the moon & it was brill to see her this excited! Ever since she was 10years old & Shropshire Country Champion at the High Jump she's dreamt of being at the Olympics & 50 years later it's happened. Good things come to those who wait ...

Super, Smashing, Great Saturday pt1

As you saw from yesterday’s post I was lucky enough to get tickets to the Olympic Park last Saturday. It was completely luck of the draw & in my opinion we got the best day out of everything, even if I'd been offered Men's 100m final I’d have turned it down for these. It was labelled Super Saturday & cos I can't keep saying 'super' I looked in a thesaurus for other words, I found excellent, cool, glorious, great, groovy(!), incomparable, magnificent, marvelous, matchless, outstanding, sensational, smashing, superb, terrific, topnotch & wonderful. Even when said one after the other they don't quite sum up the greatness of the day! Our session wasn’t until the evening so we rocked up at the park around 10:30 to give us enough time to wander around the grounds before it got too busy. We were decked out in all our Union Jack/Team GB bits & bobs & people kept grinning at us (with us?!) on our way to Stratford on the tube. As we got off the t...

Team GB's Super Saturday

Super is just one of the many words I could use to describe Saturday & mum & I were lucky to actually be in the stands cheering everyone on! Little Lumix went into overdrive & I'm still sifting through photos now. The Olympic Park was amazing & we made the most of our tickets by spending pretty much all day there. Mum said that they should have provided training for the spectators too though, we're cream crackered from it all! Need to build up our energy again though before we go & do it all again on Wednesday & mum goes with dad on Thursday! Woop! Here's one of us by the Olympic Rings, more to come on Wednesday! Ttfn x

As one final push on my semi-successful wedding diet I've jumped on the Zumba bandwagon. I've only done 2 classes so far with Club Azucar at the Hammersmith Club Society (click HERE ) & I've been really enjoying it! The venue is stunning & the classes are quite small which is great cos you can always see the instructor dancing away on the stage. I wasn't sure how well I'd keep up but seeing as I've been dancing quite a lot all my life it wasn't too hard. I just need to practise my wiggles! Even though my trainers look pretty new they're the same pair I had when I first joined a gym when I was about 16! As you can see they get loads of use(!!). I'm hoping to carry on the whole Zumba thing after the wedding but i might try somewhere else to mix up the moves & music a bit. The wedding diet is getting quite tricky cos my dress has been measured to fit me as I am now so I can't really afford to loose much more ...

Olympic Torches are just like buses....

Image
you wait ages for one then two come along at once! After getting all excited at seeing the Olympic Torch on Thursday (see post HERE ) we found out it would be coming along the river Thames on it's way to the Stadium for the opening ceremony. Our new office has a balcony so I got in early to hang out a Union Jack & get my camera ready! After doing my bit & standing on my own ringing in the Olympics using a cow bell iPhone app at 8:12 to 8:15am (no I've not cracked, see more about it  HERE ) we started to track the torch's progress on the the BBC website, when we saw it was just going past Kew we headed down to the river side to get a better view. While we stood there, in typical British fashion, the heavens opened. Thankfully we just had time for Simon to go & grab an umbrella before the excitement began. We could hear the cheers from along the river so we knew the barge was coming. It was being carried on Gloriana the Queen's barge. ...

This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine!

It was beginning to feel like the world & his wife had seen the Olympic Torch, everyone that is except me! I got all excited when I found out it would be going down the bottom of my road, which would have been brill, except it was on a Wednesday, at noon. Useful! I really think they should do the torch relay from 5:30pm through till 9am, that way more people would be free & also it would be dark & so easier to see! Anyone with me?! I started to loose hope I'd see it & instead have to watch it on tv going past all the places I know. Adam made me even more jealous when he produced a photo he'd taken of the torch passing his work on Monday evening. Not impressed! Yesterday morning though my dream came true! I was checking the torch relay website when I spotted it would be lit at Chalk Farm at 6:48am (rather precise!). Bit of an early start but it made sure I wouldn't be at work & it's on my way in so how could I refuse?! I set my alarm for 4:45a...
