One minute I'm ok, all Positive Parker, being a lockdown lady of leisure... the next I'm in a muddle, feeling totally overwhelmed and being a total Negative Nelly. It's exhausting. I know I'm not the only one feeling like this on an emotional rollercoaster but wow! Friday was a particularly bad one, I got the news I knew would be coming but was clinging onto a tiny (unrealistic) slither of hope that it would be ok, my trip to Berlin with 2 of my Frank Turner Fangirls was cancelled, first the flights, then Frank announced the 4day festival Lost Evenings was cancelled, then I had to sort my hotel cancellation. All 3 of us knew it was coming but it was a sad day, at least we're planning for Lost Evenings 5 to be one hell of a celebration, even if it's in Australia (side note - please don't be in Oz, I can't afford it!!). On top of this my Lewis Capaldi gig in July was cancelled as well as the Kasabian gig in June. As a busy social butterfly I'm fin...

Following on from my FOMO post last week I've been finding my "One Second A Day" monthly movies even more important. Sadly my I lost my May one due to my phone breaking but here's what I got up to in June... Thursday night Ceroc fun... Friday Night Spoons... Coin collecting with the in-laws... card games and silly hats...  Monday attitude... going off grid... English pints with American friends... Best. T-shirt. Ever! - if Belinda Blinked means nothing to you... don't worry!... Sausage and Cider fest with the uni gang... Miami Vice theme pug party... MDWAP... Being asked to be a Taxi Dancer for my local Ceroc group (meaning I help the beginner dancers and run a review class with a few other taxi dancers each time)... doggy mayhem in the office... watching Tommy the musical and playing pinball in the interval... first BBQ of the year - whoop... India Girlies catch up... Marylebone Street Fayre dancing in the streets... "spa day" in the paddling pool.....

Instead of hiding in your house from Trick or Treaters in the dark why not head out to The Ark Theatre in Borehamwood this Saturday?! This is far from a complaint though, rude staff, peeling paint & a dead princess. Dismaland was everything I'd hoped for & more. We were lucky enough to get tickets for Banksy's latest event & at £5 we couldn't go wrong.   A few weeks ago we drove to Weston-super-Mare clutching our tickets ready & raring to go. The weather was perfect - drizzly rain & grey clouds, until the sun came out & ruined everything!  We were ushered through a hand-drawn security area where grumpy guards rushed us through & then suddenly we were there - Dismaland. It was hard to know where to go to first so we headed to the gift shop where a miserable assistant told us off because it was "Exit through the giftshop" a nice little nod to Banksy. We stopped off at the Pocket Money Loans shop before going into Cinderella's dilapidated castle to see her carriage had crashed with paparazzi all around her, we watched an updated & bit disturbing (it alw...

Last night Adam & I had a date night to see "Amy" at the Electric Cinema on Portobello Road. EmHen had very kindly bought me vouchers for my birthday last year & I realised I'd never got round to using them. Well it was worth the wait....we walked in & had an instant 'wow' moment. There was a bar where everyone was mingling on the right, sofas to the left, rows of armchairs then the front row was made up of beds. We had booked 2 armchairs which we sank into with a small table & light between us. Each seat had its own padded foot rest that opened up to reveal a cashmere blanket! The film was amazing. If you haven't seen it yet I'd really recommend it...but take tissues! Yes we all know the ending but her story is really touching. So what with the Elextric Cinema & the Odessy in St Albans I look forward to watching films in a much more luxurious atmosphere going forward & will hopefully never have to step into a Vue or Cineworld again...

Who knew it's been 35years since the world first heard this iconic phrase? On Monday we were lucky enough to get tickets to a special anniversary event at The Odyssey Cinema in St Albans. After grabbing an ale (always classy) we walked into the stunning auditorium. Old fashioned music was playing while behind the scenes photos taken during filming showed on screen. Once we were all settled Howard Berry introduced Lee Unkrich (the director of Toy Story 3 & caretaker of The Overlook Hotel website) for a small Q&A session. He spoke to Jan Harlan (executive producer), Diane Johnson (who co-wrote the screen play with Kubrick),  Garret Brown (inventor of the Stedicam) & Gordon Stainforth (musical editor).You can see more about what was said HERE. Just before the film started (the director's cut not shown in UK cinemas before) we were treated to a video message from Danny Lloyd & he ended it by filming one of his kids riding a trike in the house...
