Up and Down like a flipping yoyo

One minute I'm ok, all Positive Parker, being a lockdown lady of leisure... the next I'm in a muddle, feeling totally overwhelmed and being a total Negative Nelly. It's exhausting. I know I'm not the only one feeling like this on an emotional rollercoaster but wow! Friday was a particularly bad one, I got the news I knew would be coming but was clinging onto a tiny (unrealistic) slither of hope that it would be ok, my trip to Berlin with 2 of my Frank Turner Fangirls was cancelled, first the flights, then Frank announced the 4day festival Lost Evenings was cancelled, then I had to sort my hotel cancellation. All 3 of us knew it was coming but it was a sad day, at least we're planning for Lost Evenings 5 to be one hell of a celebration, even if it's in Australia (side note - please don't be in Oz, I can't afford it!!). On top of this my Lewis Capaldi gig in July was cancelled as well as the Kasabian gig in June. As a busy social butterfly I'm fin...

Bessie mate bonding

In August, my pal I've known the longest, Michelle, got married to a lovely chap called Matt. July saw us all see Michelle off with a fab hen party... it was a rainy start but nothing was going to dampen my spirits... tea was drunk by the gallon... followed by Prosecco and beer... trashy tv watching and gossiping... secret hen party decorating ready for the next day... cuppa tea in bed... surprise decorations... what party is complete without a giant inflatable cock?! (don't worry mum, not what you think :P)... more prosecco... garter making... nibbles and more plonk... escape room sadness... private room bowling fun... boiler maker awesomeness... Tiger Tiger fun and a much needed late night...  Then before we knew what was happening it was time to start the run up to the big day and finally the day itself. starting the road trip up north... rations along the way... stopping off to collect Michelle's mum... tea (what else when Michelle & I are involved?!)... 1 ...

I thought the song was Drip Drip Drop Little April Shower?! I was obviously wrong. As we arrived in Devon for Art & Sam's non-wedding wedding party on Saturday we were greeted with a fine mist of rain, you know, the fine stuff that soaks you through?! Well it didn't just soak us it soaked our tent too & after 2hrs of battling with a new tent, wind & rain & I was drenched right through to my knickers (lovely bit of info for you all there!). Thankfully the weather improved a bit yesterday & then today (as we were leaving) it was wonderful sunshine - typical! I'll have more on the party when I've been through all the photos but for now enjoy the one of me above looking my best, loving life & being really glad we decided to camp! Ttfn x

Mr & Mrs W's big day.

You know a wedding's going to be good when it starts with a McDs! With a Chicken Sandwich keeping the hunger monster at bay we set off to the church to see Dave marry Heather. Yay! It was a lovely service with some fab hymns I could warble along to. After a few Kodak moments & a quick catch up with everyone afterwards it was time to grab a taxi & head for the reception.....though why we didn't get a lift in the camper van is beyond me, there would have been more than enough room for us all, Art even tried thumbing a lift but it was ignored! Chuh! After leaving the church last we somehow arrived at the venue first & got dibs on the bubbly & sweets! Ace! After more nattering & more photos we all sat down for dinner. The food was really tasty, there were a few different ales & the cake was the yummiest I'd ever seen/eaten, so I was a happy camper! Then came the dancing.....we made the most of some awesome tracks & playlists we gave ...

Man I feel old! Went to a wedding yesterday with some of the old Uni gang & now we're paying for having such a good time! What happened to feeling rough for a few hours then bouncing back?! So far all we've managed to do is head to the Harvester for lunch & man that took effort! The rest of the day has been spent dozing in front of the tv wrapped in blankets & warm jumpers. Oh to be an 18year old student again! Ttfn x

From Mrs P to Mrs D with love x

Nothing beats when a childhood friends gets married. A few weekends ago it was Caz & Dave's turn to join the smug married crew & it was awesome! Caz, her sister Helen & I have known each other all our lives & although we don't see each other a lot now it's always like good old times when we get together. It used to be the three of us against the world, whether it was getting stuck in the nets at Twycross Zoo, setting up Domino Rally in the kitchen during school hols or giggling the nights away at Brownie (then eventually Guide) Pack Holiday we were there....I even think they were the ones to Christen me KtP! Another thing we did when we were young was sing in the church choir, the highlight of each month was the weddings (& not cos we'd get paid £1 every time, tho it did help!). We used to sit there before the service chatting about our own big day then once the service started we'd nod at each other if the bride looked really pretty & gr...

Congrats to Mr & Mrs M!

Welcome to Becca & PJ's wet wedding weekend! I know you've probably heard everyone grumbling about the weather already & I'm afraid I'm going to join in....where's the spring?! When Becca & PJ planned their wedding for March I'm sure they didn't expect it to be so wet & windy. No amount of minging weather was going to dampen anyone's spirits though & a few damp hair doos & soggy shoes weren't going to keep us away. PJ looked very cool, calm & collected as we waited (& waited!) for the blushing bride to arrive. The service was lovely & really heartfelt. After a few soggy photos outside we all mingled in the church enjoying some sarnies & Bucks Fizz before setting off to the recepetion. The food was yummy (anywhere that serves Black Pudding as part of their starter is a winner in my eyes!) & there was even a guest ale on tap (that ran out a bit too quickly!). All throughout the day there were won...

Cess & Dan's wedding 17.08.12

Image
A few weeks ago it was Cess' wedding down in Dorset. After a rubbish drive down (it was supposed to take 2.5hrs, it was more like 4.5!) we finally pulled into a field rather frazzled with a hour to put up a tent, get changed & eat before we were due to join the party for the evening reception. Luckily the tent behaved & went up in record time, we threw on our clothes but had to forget food for now. We picked up Emhen & Luke from their tent on the way & walked to the farmyard next door to stunning magical marquee. It was so Cess&Dan & was perfect. We met Becca & PJ in there, grabbed a G&T from a wonderfully cheap homemade bar & sat on a hay bale soaking in the atmosphere. Everyone was called into the main marquee for their first dance which was great fun & had everyone else up dancing together by the end. The great music carried on all night thanks to their mates DJ-ing & Dan even doing a set of his own! We went for a wander...

carrying on from my last two posts (click HERE & HERE ). Once we'd topped up on alcohol & sugar it was time for Nick & Lisa's first dance followed by the daddy / daughter dance. I'm not sure how much of it was the emotion of the day & how much was the ale but I must confess I blubbed a bit! Everyone looked so happy & you wouldn't have believed it was the first time the happy couple had danced together in 9years of being together! I was really impressed at how quickly the lads all got up on the floor to have a boogie I had visions of dragging them on there kicking & screaming one by one but no they were up there with the best of them! Brill! A few pics of Lisa, Jenna, Adam & Isabelle - the little trooper stayed awake all night till it was time to go home & Isabelle did too! :P I love the middle photos of Lisa with Isabelle. Adam then took over little Lumix & turned out to be a rather fab photography wingman! I...

let the fun begin

carrying on from yesterday's post (click HERE ). After the church service (where I thankfully didn't blub) Nick & Lisa held their reception at the stunning Crabbs Barn , it really was pretty & thankfully we did quite well with the weather. In between posing for the official shots (we scrub up well don't we?! :P) I was off tottering around with my Bucks Fizz/Ale in one hand & little Lumix in the other capturing my own spin on the day. Thanks so much to Christina (on the left) for letting me post this pic that her little girl took (think she's got a budding photographer there & I might have competition!). Lisa with Jenna her maid of honor & Nick's best man (in more ways than one!) Adam. What a stunning family. While waiting for dinner Ash, Paul & Adam reflect on the day & the meaning of life. Before too long it was time to go inside, we cheered Nick & Lisa as they walked into the room as the new Mr & Mrs be...

Here comes the bride....

Image
Last week Adam's sister Lisa got married to his best mate Nick (you couldn't plan it better!). I was lucky enough to be a bridesmaid & part time official photographer (try & stop me clicking away)! It's been really fun planning our wedding alongside Nick & Lisa cos we both knew our weddings would be different enough to not worry about nicking ideas (or is it just me that gets overly protective with my plans?!) so we ended up going to quite a few wedding fairs together. We've always felt quite comfy cos we've known we're getting married 'after Nick & Lisa' but now that security blanket's gone & it's not that far away! Jenna, Tina, Christina, Jennifer & I all arrived at Lisa's house early to have our hair styled & to do our makeup while the kids were looked after at Jill & Keith's. It was quite nice to have a few hours to natter away excitedly with the odd glass of wine(!) while we got ready before the ...

Helen & Pete sitting in a tree....

Image
A few weekends ago when the sun was still in the sky a close family friend got married. I've known Helen since I was tiny & after a glass of wine (or two) I was proudly saying that I knew Helen cos I'd worn most of her cast-offs (which is pretty true & some of them I still wear now!) & if I was carrying on the tradition I could have borrowed her dress too! The wedding was in a lovely little church in the Cotswolds which was close (read next door!) to where the groom's granny lived. It was so pretty but also rather chilly seeing as we were sat near the back & they left the door open for the whole service! Brr! Helen looked stunning as her dad walked her up the aisle as a Miss & Pete walked her back down as his Mrs. Seeing as we've grown up together it's lovely that Helen & I are both getting married this year & we got engaged around the same time too. As well as confetti, people threw lavender which smelt amazing but it did get ev...
