'mind the gap'
had a busy busy day yesterday, went off to london for a 'careers in retail show.' it started at 8:30am so i thought id get down there early incase it was a big show, dad had been to olympia before and said it was huge. so i set off at 6:15am and after delays etc on the train i got there about 9:30. the delays werent really a problem though cos it ended up with me being in first class on the way down! the ticket only cost me £13 for a single and i just assumed it was in standard class untill it went out over the tannoy that coach J was 1st class! usually i dont bother to find the seat that i reserved but i though i really should do this time! it was so good! big comfy seats, i got FREE tea and coffe at every station in a chine mug and with a silver spoon! there was free food and 'The Times' to read, i felt really common reading my good old metro that id picked up from the station!! i lso turned down the music on my ipod just incase it was a bit too loud! id never do that normally but i was surrounded by middle aged business men all in suits and a 21 year old student sitting in there looked odd enough without system of a down blaring out for all to hear!
got to st pancras and got on the tube to olympia. Picked up my poppy from a little old man in the station. this is the thrid poppy ive had this year, i keep loosing them! i think thats why they dont change the way that you pin them on, they always fall out too easliy and then you go and buy another one!!! hehe. also i havent really noticed many people wearing them this year, maybe they had all fallen out on that day or people just dont wear them as much now?
arrived at olympia and walked in. there was hardly any memebers of the public there so i managed to get straight in to get my cv checked over before visiting any companies. i went to see the arcadia group, monsoon and accessories, house of fraser, debenhams, new look (where i got a free £15 belt! not bad!), matalan, plus some more that i cant remeber the names of! another 2 companies i saw worked abroad, one was from spain and the other from saudi arabia! i chatted to them for a bit and hopefully might get a job with them?! who knows?!
I finished loking round really early and my train home wasnt untill much later that night so i planned to wander around london for a bit before trying to get an early train home. fisrt stop was the V&A, thought id go and see the ikat weaving for my dissertation. ive got a book that shows all the ikat samples they have and thought it would be a good idea to see them. it ended up with there being only 1 sample out, the rest were in storage i think! chuh! so that didnt take long at all either! i was then gonna get an open top bus tour around the city but it took too long to arrive so got the tube to oxford circus instead so i could visit Top Shop! whoo hooo! the bottom floor had changed since i was last there and now almost the whole of the floor is filled with shoes!!! it was amazing! i kept turning a new corner and there were more shoes! didnt buy anything though, i was very restrained! popped in a few more shops before deciding to come home.
on my tube back to st pancras there was a guy who kept looking at me and grinning in the same way that donnie darko does! i was well freaked out! argh! got to the station just in time and jumped on the train just as it was about to leave. our guard on the train was a real geek, he came on the tannoy and said 'for those of you who like a bit of vital statistics this train is exactly 1 year old, has 9 cars, can go up to a speek of 125mph but will only do 110mph today.......'and he kept going! it was so funny! everyone on the train was laughing so much! bless him! this time the ticket only cost £4 so i definately wasnt in 1st class!!! doh!
got back picked up some parcels from the post office, internet shopping is SOOOO addictive! :-S and chilled out at home for the rest of the evening with rfa and matty.
the next few days are gonna be mental, so will add more info as i go along if i have time!
