Electric Cinema presents "AMY"

Image
Last night Adam & I had a date night to see "Amy" at the Electric Cinema on Portobello Road. EmHen had very kindly bought me vouchers for my birthday last year & I realised I'd never got round to using them. Well it was worth the wait....we walked in & had an instant 'wow' moment. There was a bar where everyone was mingling on the right, sofas to the left, rows of armchairs then the front row was made up of beds. We had booked 2 armchairs which we sank into with a small table & light between us. Each seat had its own padded foot rest that opened up to reveal a cashmere blanket! The film was amazing. If you haven't seen it yet I'd really recommend it...but take tissues! Yes we all know the ending but her story is really touching. So what with the Elextric Cinema & the Odessy in St Albans I look forward to watching films in a much more luxurious atmosphere going forward & will hopefully never have to step into a Vue or Cineworld again...

I'm getting good at this "me" time

Image
I've got another chance to sit & do nothing - this time at the hairdressers. Huzzah! The only place where you can chill out & switch off & come out looking better than when you started! Trouble is though I can't upload this fascinating post until I get home to a wifi area because thanks to my rubbish contract yet again I've run out of data. I'm due an upgrade but just can't decide between phones & I'm not sure these stubby little monkey fingers will cope with the vast expanse of screen that is an iPhone 6!  Anyway gotta go my Kindle's calling. These things happen in threes....

Carlton's fixed whoop! I skipped off to the station only to find I'd left  my Oyster Card at home....after a few choice "Oh Bothers" I bought a paper ticket & set off...opening one of my G&Ts as soon as I sat down! Im now on my second train & second G&T...& am ready for whatever the 3rd thing may be....who knows....if I miss my stop I end up in Brighton.....every cloud & all that!  Ttfnx

What better time to say hi

Image
....then when you're stuck in a car park with a flat tyre. Joy of joys! It couldn't have happened when Carlton was on the drive or when I was at work...no it's when I'm going out to see my girlies. Ruddy typical! At least the sun's out....there's a breeze...I have my Kindle & Minions Harribo to gobble up (sorry Adam!) I do have 4 cans of G&T in my bag but I don't think the Green Flag man would appreciate a drunk KtP giving him a hug on arrival! Ah well at least I can catch up on my reading.... Enjoy your weekends people Ttfn x

Here's Johnny #Shining35

Who knew it's been 35years since the world first heard this iconic phrase? On Monday we were lucky enough to get tickets to a special anniversary event at The Odyssey Cinema in St Albans. After grabbing an ale (always classy) we walked into the stunning auditorium. Old fashioned music was playing while behind the scenes photos taken during filming showed on screen. Once we were all settled Howard Berry introduced Lee Unkrich (the director of Toy Story 3 & caretaker of The Overlook Hotel website) for a small Q&A session. He spoke to Jan Harlan (executive producer), Diane Johnson (who co-wrote the screen play with Kubrick),  Garret Brown (inventor of the Stedicam) & Gordon Stainforth (musical editor). You can see more about what was said HERE. Just before the film started (the director's cut not shown in UK cinemas before) we were treated to a video message from Danny Lloyd & he ended it by filming one of his kids riding a trike in the house...

Wellies for every occasion

During a recent conversation with mates I happened to mention my "lawn boots".....special wellies I cut the grass with. It was met with blank expressions, don't we all have wellies for all occasions?!  Ttfn x

Mature, Responsible & Sheep spotting

I don't know what it is about carrying a takeaway tea but it always makes me feel that bit older & that bit more important. I'm off out for a day of Shaun hunting with the gals...as you do! Let's see how many we find!  Ttfnx

It was a British bank holiday - what more did we expect?!

I thought the song was Drip Drip Drop Little April Shower?! I was obviously wrong. As we arrived in Devon for Art & Sam's non-wedding wedding party on Saturday we were greeted with a fine mist of rain, you know, the fine stuff that soaks you through?! Well it didn't just soak us it soaked our tent too & after 2hrs of battling with a new tent, wind & rain & I was drenched right through to my knickers (lovely bit of info for you all there!). Thankfully the weather improved a bit yesterday & then today (as we were leaving) it was wonderful sunshine - typical! I'll have more on the party when I've been through all the photos but for now enjoy the one of me above looking my best, loving life & being really glad we decided to camp! Ttfn x

I love our early morning & late night cuddles while you snore away in my arms. This is everything I dreamed of & more. Wish I didn't have to wake you to go to work though! Love you Mr T. Ttfn x

Comfy isn't always a bad thing.

Tonight we are doing something we've never done before...we've gone to the cinema (Avengers if you're interested)....in our joggers! Who said when you're married you stop making an effort?! Yoink! Ttfn x

The things we do....

Sitting on my bed, tired, repairing a ripped dog toy before starting on Adam's jeans. When on earth did I become domesticated?! Ttfn x

A little bit for everyone

Last week saw the end of my 5 gigs in 3 weeks...where did that go?! I thought it would make quite a fun contrast to put it all in one post so here goes.... sorry it's a long one guys! ------------------------------- 1. CHUCK RAGAN - Scala - 25-03-15 A great way to ease into my gig marathon! We arrived at the Scala & even though we were right at the back I had a clear view of Joe Ginsberg whoop! Chuck & the Camaraderie sounded as wonderful as always & I enjoyed a good singalong & foot stomp! I'd never been to the Scala before (I only knew it as a club you could get shot at years ago!!) but it's a great space for live gigs. Yay for Chuck & new venues! Roll on the next one - maybe even a Revival Tour. Also yay for being at Kings Cross late at night when there are no tourists at Platform 9 3/4. ------------------------------- 2. FRANK TURNER - Cecil Sharp House - 26-03-15 Not a gig strictly speaking but a celebration of Frank's book launch. Cecil Sharp H...
