We like to boogie….

Image
A couple of weekends ago I went to a jive dance weekender in skegness at the butlins there. Now this was the weekends of many firsts: 1. I’d never been to skeggy, believe it or not I’m from the midlands & never been there! 2. I’d never been to a butlins. 3. I’d never been on a dance weekender. So it was bound to be good from the start! We (lou, max, teddy & I) all met at kings cross & caught 2 trains to skeggy. We finally arrived about 6pm & checked into our 4 person chalet which was brilliant. Had a spot of dinner & headed off to 1 of the 2 dancefloors that were there especially for us. The challet - teddy, me, lou & max In total I think there were about 1,000 people there all ready to jive, west coast swing & blues their socks off! We were then joined by 4 more people from jivenation - gotham, ellie, courtney & neil. We started dancing at 11pm Friday night & finished 5am Monday morning with very little sleep in between. There were classes ...

Elephantastic

Image
Well my elephant hunt is over. There were 258 statues all around london & today they are taken down, given a fresh lick of paint & then auctioned off for the 'elephant family' charity. Will miss wandering aound the city & spotting them. I wanted to find them all but what with moving house & all i was left about 60 short. Not bad i guess! They were all on display in westfield shopping centre (see photo) & at the royal hospital chelsea. I managed to get to westfield last night but couldn't make it to chelsea. Boo! Ah well bring on the next set of things to get excited about & i'll hunt them out! Yay! So much has been happening recently & will blog about them when i get a moment in my hectic schedule! :-p but all in all everythin'g hunky dory! X x x

Can't beat a bit of rage!

Image
I'm sitting on Finsbury Park along with 40,000 other people! No it's not the case of Brits all crowding out onto the 1st bit of grass they see when the sun comes out it's cos we're at the victory party to end all victory parties! When Rage Against The Machine got the chrimbo no1 beating x-factor (the 1st time in 5 yrs i think) they said they'd do a free thank you gig for the fans & that's where we are! It's hopefully gonna be a pretty ace gig! Bring it on! ********** Turns out there's no internet connection to post this, chuh it's the 21st century people! :-p the gig was ace! My throat's pretty sore & my knees hurt but was worth it! Sitting on the tube with a big grin on my face! When you say jump i say how high?! Oh & the big news is we've moved! Adam & I are now home owners! It's been pretty hectic & will post more about it later. But it's pretty fun playing house! X x x

.....ooh & what about.....

Image
Phew I'm getting there! Why on earth does the weather go so flippin' hot when I need to pack all my stuff up?! It's not easy! Had to rummage under my desk for my fan the other night, switched it on & my bed & I were given a dust blast! Yuck! We're not getting the keys 'till the end of the week but this is my last evening to pack properly! Argh! One minute I'm so excited the next I'm wondering what on earth I'm doing & oooh I haven't called so & so yet to change an address or cancel something. Usually the panic kicks in as I'm wanting to fall asleep! Typical! Anyways better get back to my tape gun & get packed! Bring it on! X x x

9 days to go!

I can't believe how quickly this move has come around! I'm currently spending my last full week in rented accomodation, a crazy thought! Kind of wish we could hire a PA to do all the planning/organising new bills, old bills, change of addresses.....you name 'em I'm stressing about 'em! I can't get no sleep! x x x

The Little Train That Couldn't

Image
You never appreciate how much you take public transport in London for granted until you try to travel by it anywhere else! I know London isn't perfect but as soon as there's a problem on the underground or overland there's always the option of a bus or another tube line. In Nuneaton I've waited almost an hour for a delayed service back to London, I've just got on it & it's terminating half way there so I have to get off this one & wait for another! Argh! Had the same problem on Sunday. Adam & I wanted to pop into a nearby town but didn't have a car so went to get a bus thinking it would be one an hour or something but no it was worse than that - no buses at all!! Imagine if they just stopped bus routes in London! Gimme a car anyday! Growl xxx

science - you gotta love it!

Not sure how many of you heard about this but it was an event on facebook that I found out about & thought why the devil not! Science can be fun! It goes on the theory that "Many women who do not dress modestly ... lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which (consequently) increases earthquakes," Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi was quoted as saying by Iranian media. Sedighi is Tehran's acting Friday prayer leader. It was decided that yesterday (Monday 26th April) would be labelled BOOBQUAKE! The point was for as many people as possible to wear a low-cut top & thus if the theory above is true it will cause an earthquake. Well I’ve seen in the paper today that it actually worked! Crazy! http://gawker.com/5524695/boobquake-actually-caused-an-earthquake?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:%20gawker/full%20(Gawker)&utm_content=Google%20Reader See the link from the original blog: http://www.blaghag.co...

Notes from a bookworm

Image
It's interesting how much a book can affect you. I've just sarted reading 'The Lovely Bones' by Alice Sebold & it's brilliant but so very sad at the same time. If you've not read it you really should. It has been written in such a clever way & it makes me want to read every single word. Not many books have this effect on me & i enjoy reading them but can take it or leave it, this one i just have to keep on reading. I'm only on page68 & i'm really hoping it takes a while to finish cos when i get this much into a book i love it! x x x

*news flash*

Well after a few months of trying really hard not to say anything I can now confirm adam & I have bought a flat! Had a phone call yesterday to say we had exchanged successfully & we’re due to get the keys end may! It’s so exciting! Our own little place together. We can’t wait! It’s a big step & we say bring it! :P As soon as we’d signed our contracts & paid the deposit on Saturday we made our first purchases as home owners – we got a bath mat, towels, colander, tea towels & a pedal bin for the bathroom! Just a few bits & bobs for now then we move onto the sofa, bed, shower, etc…….we’ve already ordered the kitchen too so it’s going to be all systems go as soon as we move in. Can’t wait to start making the place our own & then more importantly have a house warming! On a totally different topic I can’t believe how noisy it is now with the planes going overhead once more. I know it’s good for the people who were stranded but it was so peaceful for a week wit...

My brain hurts!

Image
*ouch!* Thought i'd try another step in my growing up & listen to the debate on itv tonight to learn more about politics. I started off by not having a clue who to vote for, now i think i'm even more unsure! Argh! Really trying to stay focused.........come on brain don't fail me now! Think they should have shown this in half hour installments everday, they're losing me! Not even an advert break for loo breaks & for me to get a cup of tea to keep me awake! Also couldn't they have spent a bit more on the budget of the show instead of dragging it out of the 80s?! x x x

come on brain!

Image
Why is it when you need to read something quickly your brain suddenly needs to read each word 3 times for it to take in what it's saying?! Double this when you put Swedish names into the equation! Argh! x x x

moods

in a weird one today. one minute i’m up the next i’m a mardy mare. can’t win. roll on 5pm when i’m outta here for another long weekend. M&D have come up for 3 days which is ace & i’m looking forward to spending some time with them. it’s just not coming quick enough tho. hmm wonder if anyone would notice if i wound the clocks on an hour or 2 in the office?! xxx

they're creepy and they're kooky, mysterious and spooky, They're all together ooky...

....the Addam's Family! (not true at all but was the best title I could come up with!) Easter was different for me this year – it was my first holiday with Adam’s family. Mum was so busy with church that I’m seeing them this weekend instead so we stayed at Lisa’s house & had 3 days with them in Essex. It was my first experience of a noisy & busy family time. It’s usually just Mum, Dad, Adam & me relaxing, watching tv & going for a walk. This time on the Sunday there were Adam’s parents, Jenna & Matt, Lisa & Nick, Brandon, Adam & me plus a psycho cat! Looking back on it it was quite fun to be part of such a bubbly family celebration but at certain points I wished I’d had my ear plugs! It’ll take a bit of getting used to but not in a bad way just a different way. I still managed to get a walk in though which was fun (had to walk off the amazing meal cooked by Lisa to make room for the gooey chocolate cake Matt had made!) & everyone came along. Lisa ...

drip drip drop little april shower

well almost, i'm 2 days ahead of myself. i loved walking to work today in my quilted anorak with my hood up. sounds random but i've not done that for ages! i normally go out with an umbrella but today thought why the devil not & put my hood up! (crazy i know! :P) i'd forgotten how nice it is to feel like you're in a cocoon & listen to the rain hitting your hood. just wish i'd worn my wellies then i really would have been jumping in puddles & everything making the most of the rainy day experience! x x x

wakey wakey!

I really hate it when someone has the same ringtone on their mobile phone that i've had as a wake up alarm in the past. Whenever it goes off it jars me out of whatever lovely daydream i was in the middle of! It doesn't matter if it's the last phone i had or one from 2nd year at uni the effects still the same! Anyways i'll be back to dreaming in my little world now...x x x

the budgie

another development in my growing up in 2010 - i'm going to try following the budget!! seems only yesterday that i was moaning that the 'budgie' stopped the kids shows for an afternoon. never thought i'd see the day when i took an interest in it & i'd be one of those boring grown ups! fingers crossed something good will come of it *ahem* get rid of stamp duty *ahem* x x x

just can't get enough....

of books! i can't stop reading at the moment, i'm turning into a right little bookworm. read some fab things recently - i've just finished white tiger & now on hound of the baskervilles. there's nothing better than geting lost in a book while your stuck on a bus in traffic or in a tunnel on the tube & you're sitting there living some other character's life whether it's good or bad. anyways dunno why i'm typing this better finish this chapter before my lunch is over.... x x x

*snigger*

was on the overland train this morning going into central london minding my own business when i heard a gasp as we were stopped at a station. i looked around along with a few other nosey people & there was a girl with one shoe on standing on the train by the door. it turned out as she had got onto the train her ballet pump had fallen off her foot & fell between the train & platform onto the tracks below!! instead of getting off the train, waiting for it to move, asking for help to get her shoe back & catch the next train she just carried on as if it was perfectly normal to stand there with one shoe on & one bare stocking foot. she was so calm about it i wasn't sure if she was just having an unlucky day or if it was a clever ploy to buy new shoes?! maybe i should try this one next time 'oh no my shoe has fallen off i must buy some new shoes!' hmmmm! also found out today about the new ride at alton towers called thirteen & it looks ace! can't wait ...

I must say I’m rather pooped!

That’ll learn me for having too much fun! It’s been all systems go recently in ktp’s world. There are lots of things happening in the pipeline but I don’t want to jinx anything yet until it’s properly confirmed. Oooooh cryptic or what?! I’ve also been having much fun at jive which is sadly down to just one venue a week for a bit until we find another amazing dancefloor to go & invade! Hopefully 2 or even 3 classes a week will be up and running again soon. I kind of thought that I’d end up having more nights off a week but boy was I wrong!! I can’t just enjoy some time off & relax & do the washing & cleaning it seems, I still end up filling my weeks! Ah well! I’ve got back into the habit I had in India where I find as many little opportunities to catch a little sleep as possible! Power naps are the future! Had an ace weekend catching up with a lot of the india girlies – anna, emhen, becca & I all had a road trip down to Bournemouth to see NatNat & we had an a...
